DIY Monster Costume

When I first became pregnant with my second baby I loved that his birthday would be in the month of October. I immediately thought that his first birthday had to be a monster themed party.. and probably every party after. (my brain and anxiety thinks wayyyyy ahead like that)

So last year when it was time to start working on party plans for Brigham’s first birthday party, I already had it alllll planned out in my head. And I am obsessed with how it all turned out. He was the cutest in his handmade monster outfit and the cake and cupcakes were to die for. I loved how i was able to make it all by myself with a few frosting tips and some candy eyeballs.

We had a few games for the older kids and then made some fun slime that each of the guests got to take home. It was the perfect party for a little baby who was turning one!

To create the perfect outfit I headed to Joann to find the best monster fabric. They had a toooon of good options but when I saw this green towel like fabric I was HOOKED! I knew it would be the best fabric for this project. I then just used a basic romper pattern to create a green towel romper and added some spikes along the sides.

I knew I nailed the costume when I cut out vinyl using my Silhouette to make eyeballs allll over the romper. It was the perfect finishing touch! He was the best little one year old monster and I absolutely loved it! You can see all the details on how you can make this costume by watching the video below.
