The Maritime Top
Years ago when I was visiting my parents in Kansas, we went to the cutest fabric shop in downtown Lawerence (GO JAYHAWKS!) They have a ton of different fabrics and I was in heaven. Now my parents live in Colorado and I miss that fabric shop so much. It was dreamy. Every time I would visit we would make a special trip there.
This particular trip I fell in love with this organic birch knit, as I always do when I see birch fabrics. While we looked around I tried to think of different ways I could justify spending $20/ yard on this fabric. I had never gotten fabric that expensive before. I was just going to put it back when my mom told me she would get two yards of it for me ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I found the perfect pattern to go with it and was so happy to have this gorgeous fabric. But then I was terrified to cut into it because I thought I would mess it up. So I just held onto it for a couple years and waited for the nerve to make it.
Finally it came and I was able to make the Mairtime Top from Liesl + Co. I love how it turned out. I was afraid of making it too tight so I did make it pretty loose but I like the fit of it. The only alteration I made was a full bust adjustment.
I will definitely be making more of these in the future and probably play around with the fit a little more. I want to make one that is a little more fitted and not quite so loose. But overall it is an awesome pattern that is quick to sew and looks really nice when all is said and done!
