My Make Nine for 2019

Being active in the online sewing community, I have found there are a lot of good hashtags that people follow and consistently use. This year I really wanted to participate in #Makenine

Basically, you choose 9 items of clothing that you want to sew this year. It’s like your goals for the year. I love making goals so I knew I wanted to jump in on the fun! I almost wanted to make one for all the categories, kids clothing, quilts, etc. but I thought it might be better to not overwhelm myself and just stick to clothes for myself. Usually with kids clothing and quilts it’s very spur of the moment or I get inspired by something and I have to make it ASAP, so this is probably for the best.

So my Make Nine for 2019 are…

I chose a lot of basics that I have been meaning to make and just never take the time to do it and some, ok really just 2, intricate things, the coat and the button up shirt dress.

A lot of these choices are because I have owned the pattern for who knows how long and have always wanted to make it so this year it’s happening! I also want to work on using as much of the fabric I have as possible and not buy so much. However some of these projects it will be necessary to buy for.

These aren’t in any particular order but from left to right here is what I will be making…

1. The Coram Top and Dress from Indie Sew

I have wanted to make this for a while now and I’m finally going to make it happen. I would love to do the dress and the top. Every time I see someone make this pattern it turns out so good, so I already know it is pretty fail proof. And it is the perfect basic!

2. Highlands Wrap Dress from Indie Sew

I keep seeing beautiful wrap dresses so I have to jump on the trend and make one for myself too. I love how they can be really dressy but also really casual. I’m wanting to make a more casual one but we will see how the year goes 😉

3. The Rockford Raglan from Love Notions

I love raglans and decided I need a few more in my closet. From t-shirts to thicker sweaters I think this will be a fun pattern to play around with all year long.

4. The Classic Tee Shirt from Love Notions

Another basic but that is usually what I wear everyday and I would love to have more me made options for everyday.

5. The Maritime Knit Top from Liesl & Co

Are you seeing my theme here? 🤣🤣 My year is very basic but I’m excited for that! I’ve had this pattern for a few years now and I’m excited to finally cut into it.

6. The Kelly Anorak Jacket from Closet Case Patterns

I’ve seen this jacket a lot this year and I just loooove it and all the possibilities it has. Honestly I have like 3 different ideas for this jacket in my head and I want to make them all. But I will be so happy if I get just one done this year!

7. McCall’s Dress – M6503

I saw this pattern in my stash and decided it would be such a fun project for this year. I’m not sure which view to make but the ruffles are so fun I will probably have them on whichever one I make.

8. Gallery Tunic & Dress from Liesl & Co

I love this as a shirt and it’s been on my imaginary list for years so it’s another one of those that has to happen this year so I can check it off. It looks so cute and comfy.

9. Simplicity shirt dress pattern 8014

I love exactly what the model is wearing on the pattern and I think it would be perfect for summer and fall! After working on a few collars in college I got a little sick of them so I hope by doing this I can realize they aren’t as bad as my 20 year old self thought. 😂

I feel like that is a good list for me and where I’m at right now. Lots of things that I can wear all the time, and can be made with the limited time I have.

My other sewing goal is to finish all those WIP projects I have. There are a few quilts that need to be bound and a couple I need to finish piecing together.

What are your sewing goals this year?
