Why you Need the Cricut EasyPress 2

I never realized how important a good iron is until I got really into sewing. I started to understand that without a good iron projects can turn into a complete mess and look very “homemade”, which is NOT the look I’m going for. Once I did get a good iron it made such a difference. Then the Cricut EasyPress 2 came out and I wasn’t sure why I would need it, other than to press vinyl. I saw so many crafters using the EasyPress 2 for a variety of fun projects I knew I just needed to try it out and see for myself. BOY WAS I WRONG! The EasyPress 2 is amazing for so many other projects!
When I first received the EasyPress 2 I was putting kits together for a class I was teaching. To give us more time in class, I was ironing the fusible fleece onto the fabric before hand, which was taking forever. Fusible fleece is thicker, so it requires more time being pressed. Along with that, the area was pretty big compared to my iron so I was having to hold it down for 20 seconds in 4 different areas for each piece. But then the Cricut EasyPress 2 arrived and everything changed!
I immediately pulled it out of the box and got it warming up. IT SAVED ME SO MUCH TIME! Let me tell you why,
- It covers way more space (depending on what size you get, I have the 9”x9” but they also have a 12”x10”) than a typical iron. So when before I had to press one piece 4 TIMES! But with the EasyPress 2 I only had to do it 2 TIMES!
- The EasyPress 2 has a timer built in so every time you set it on your project you press the button to start the timer and you know exactly how long you have pressed your project. This was really helpful with the fusible fleece so I wasn’t wasting time.
- Even heat distribution — The bottom of the EasyPress 2 is a full plate whereas an iron has holes in the bottom of the plate for steam and is more of a triangle shape, which won’t give an even heat distribution.
- You get to pick the temperature you want the EasyPress 2 at. There is a temperature control that will allow you to change the heat for whatever project you are doing. For vinyl I need the heat down to 320 degrees and but for the fusible fleece I needed it hotter to get a good pressing. It has been really nice to adjust the settings to exactly what I need each time and it quickly warms up to what I need.
I recently started making fabric gift bags to put neighbor presents in and possibly others, if I’m feeling optimistic. But once it was finished I felt that it really needed a finishing touch on it, so I pulled out some vinyl, turned the EasyPress 2 onto warm, and quickly had a finished bag! It has been fabulous.
I have loved having the Cricut EasyPress 2. It has helped me to optimize my production time as well as accurately apply heat. Before the EasyPress 2 it was a guessing game and now I know exactly what and how to do it.
Happy Creating Friends!!
