DIY Christmas Stocking Advent Calendar
As much as I love bright and fun colors I have realized that when it comes to Christmas I like to keep it somewhat traditional…maybe because I already have so much stuff that is “traditional”. I will still add in the bright pops of green and blue but I love the basic red and green for Christmas. Although I should say I can’t guarantee it will always be that way.. I do love the colorful Christmas decor.
We go all out in our Christmas decorating and even have an ever growing collection of Santa’s that my husband takes great pride in. I like to think I’m collecting nativities but really I’m always pulled to the beautiful reindeer and Christmas trees.
Our two little boys love being involved in the traditions of Christmas and the older they get the more ideas I start to come up with. This year I decided we needed to have a fun advent calendar that was all for them. I have one I love to display but it is more of a decoration than a piece for the kids to touch, so I was determined to make this one extremely kid friendly. And what better way than to make little Felt stockings.
These were such an easy and fun make, I even had the kids helping multiple times through the process. I may have gotten them a little too ready for Christmas as now they can’t stop asking when Christmas will be here…woops.
I love the idea of putting little candies in the stockings one day and other days having an activity. But knowing my kids they will make sure to pick out every single piece of candy the moment I walk out of the room. So after chatting with my husband about it, we came up with the idea of each day having a different “voucher” that they would then turn in to us to either receive a treat or do a Christmas activity.
Some days we will include activities like bake cookies, take gifts to neighbors, watch a Christmas movie or even just something as simple as reading a new Christmas book. I think it will be a fun way to celebrate Christmas all month long. And as an added bonus that last week when we are at grandmas I can bring the last final stockings and not worry about bringing too much stuff.

I love how colorful these stockings are and how much fun it must be to peek inside one each day! I also like putting activities in our advent calendar as it makes December a month of togetherness!
