How to Install a Zipper
After my last post talking about the snaps I figured I should continue the trend and talk about another closure that I frequently use and love, Zippers. They are so quick and easy to put in and give such a professional and good look to the garment.
It is also amazing all the different kinds of zippers you can buy, anything from an all purpose zipper, an invisible zipper, separating zipper, etc.
Then you also have all the different colors and lengths! SO MANY OPTIONS!
I recently filmed three tutorials on how to sew three different types of zippers.
The first is a video on How to Sew a Concealed Zipper, click here to watch. This zipper can be confused with an exposed zipper but it looks so much more professional. I love that you can use an all purpose zipper and it is a little surprise at the end. The zipper is slightly concealed by a flap on either side, and looks SO GOOD, when out in correctly.
The second video explains How to Sew an Exposed Zipper, click here to watch. This is probably the most basic way to sew in a zipper. I don’t always love the look of it but it can be necessary when sewing bags or making a statement in a piece of clothing.
The third video is a tutorial on How to Sew an Invisible Zipper, click here to watch. This is probably the most common zipper that is used when sewing clothing. It is the perfect way to get a dress or skirt to fit just right and still be able to put it on easily. At the end of it all the zipper should not be seen at all, making it invisible.
