How to Sew a Swimsuit — inserting the bra cups — Swimsuit Sewbration Sewalong Day 6
At this point you should have a fully lined swimsuit that has elastic every where except the front neckline. We left that open so that now you can try the suit on and place the bra cups exactly where you want them. Doing it this late in the swimsuit making process helps to make sure they are correctly placed and won’t end up in some weird position.

Today in our swimsuit making journey, we are going to walk through the steps of inserting the elastic. This is usually the most tricky step for people but with some practice it does get easier! If you start getting frustrated pull out some scrap fabric and practice a few more times before you do the final project. And even then you can always unpick elastic and reinsert it!

Now we are ready to actually start sewing and making your fabric turn into a swimsuit. We have made sure you got the right fabric and made sure the pattern is perfect for you, now we are going to assemble the pieces of fabric. Every swimsuit is going to be different in the assembly process so I don’t want this to seem too broad, but it will not be the same for every pattern. It’s the exciting time to cut out your fabric! I get a little anxious whenever I cut out fabric I love but I just have to trust myself. And if you read yesterday’s post you heard about how to alter your pattern pieces and how you should ALWAYS cut out your lining fabric first, baste it together and check the fit. More and more pattern companies are coming out with swimsuit patterns and I LOVE IT!
