    How to Make Baby Shoes

After I found out I was pregnant with my first baby, little Crew, I immediately made him his first pair of shoes. They were the cutest little things and screamed BYU. Making baby things has always brought me so much joy and so has buying them! Before even having kids I was obsessed with the company Freshly Picked. I love the baby shoes they make but I also love hearing about all things business. Susan at Freshly Picked is a serious Boss Babe and such an inspiration to me! However as poor college students I knew buying those moccasins was not an option at the time so I set out…

How to Make a Baby Sleep Sack

Guys, heating a house is expensive. And honestly, I love sleeping in a warm bed and the air around me cold..er. But with two little boys, I’m always worried they will be freezing, and you can’t give a baby a blanket, so what is a mom to do? Answer: Make a Sleep Sack, aka a wearable blanket. Now I don’t have to worry about my youngest getting cold at night AND the dangers of a baby using a blanket. This is a safer option and I know it won’t fall off of him at night. At first, I just bought one from the store but as my son grows he…

    The Maritime Top

Years ago when I was visiting my parents in Kansas, we went to the cutest fabric shop in downtown Lawerence (GO JAYHAWKS!) They have a ton of different fabrics and I was in heaven. Now my parents live in Colorado and I miss that fabric shop so much. It was dreamy. Every time I would visit we would make a special trip there. This particular trip I fell in love with this organic birch knit, as I always do when I see birch fabrics. While we looked around I tried to think of different ways I could justify spending $20/ yard on this fabric. I had never gotten fabric that…

How to Make and Tie a Baby Wrap

Almost four years ago I made a video on How to Make a Baby Wrap. I wanted one of those really nice wraps that everyone loved and swore by with new babies but I did not want to fork over the money to buy one! Those things can get really expensive and as college students, we did not have money for that! So after doing a little research on them, I thought why couldn’t I make one of those? They are SO SIMPLE and with the right sales, SO MUCH CHEAPER! Well, I made the video and it has been awesome! However looking back I do not love the quality…

    My Make Nine for 2019

Being active in the online sewing community, I have found there are a lot of good hashtags that people follow and consistently use. This year I really wanted to participate in #Makenine Basically, you choose 9 items of clothing that you want to sew this year. It’s like your goals for the year. I love making goals so I knew I wanted to jump in on the fun! I almost wanted to make one for all the categories, kids clothing, quilts, etc. but I thought it might be better to not overwhelm myself and just stick to clothes for myself. Usually with kids clothing and quilts it’s very spur of…

How to Make a T-shirt Romper

I love finding new ways to reuse old stuff. It’s like you are giving it a second life. So when I had the idea to repurpose my husbands old T-shirt’s into rompers I was so excited to get started. For these Rompers I just made my own pattern using a Romper we already owned and I knew my son fit well in. I folded it in half and traced around it. Then I added seam allowances, and I had a pattern! In the video I show step by step how you can make your own pattern for this. You can check out how to make your own T-shirt Romper here–…

    How to Install Snaps

When I first started working with snaps I was a little intimidated by the process of installing them and then I had issues with the snaps moving or coming out. It’s no fun to have issues with snaps but once you have it figured out they are SO easy to work with. I love adding them to kids clothing. I wanted to share the things I have learned working with snaps so I created one master video and then broke it down into three different videos if you are working with a specific snap. Check out the Main video here — https://youtu.be/fftG0Y3pvuM There are lots of different kinds and brands…
